(Position Is a full-time Probationary, Tenure track Position)

Associates Degree in Surgical Assisting./Surgical Technology from an accredited college or university or a Registered Nurse; possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Previous experience and/or desire to engage in distance learning initiatives is preferred.

The Instructor will report to the Department Chair and perform the following duties:

• Provide instruction in Surgical Technology Courses.
• Evaluate Student performance.
• Participation on departmental, division wide, and College wide committee for the purpose of building community.
• and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
• At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty contract.

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days), which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours, typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester.

Teaching load may include evening, weekend and/or online assignments, and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
