Position and Locations

Corning/ Horseheads Region

Teachers are expected to

Have the ability to work with a diverse population of students
Administer standardized and informal diagnostic tests to assess the strength and skills of individual students for education prescriptive purposes and for goal setting, evaluation and assessment purposes
Consult and collaborate with all individuals involved with the education of the student
Record and report student progress
Carry out treatment program as identified through evaluation and IEP, maintain appropriate and accurate documentation regarding assessment, planning and treatment outcome
Implement use of supplementary equipment or modes of communications or supplement existing communications
Carry out all other duties as assigned
Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two-person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for schools (TCIS) training. Initial and refresher TCIS training is provided by GST BOCES.

Qualifications

Valid NYS Certification in Deaf and Hearing Impaired or Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
Knowledge of FM amplification system; total communication/sign language
