Reading Partners - Become a Reading Tutor in East Harlem!

Reading Partners NYC: a volunteer opportunity in your community! Help an elementary school studentimprove their reading skills by providing them with one‑on‑one individualized tutoring with Reading Partners'structured, evidence‑based curriculum.

We are currently seeking volunteer tutors for our East Harlem school site at P.S. 102 Jacques Cartier.

Tutoring sessions are only one hour and take place from Monday through Thursday between 8:00am and 2:30pm, with the possibility of after school tutoring sessions from 2:30-4:30pm. No experience is required to become a tutor and Reading Partners provide an easy‑to‑follow curriculum that includes an interactive script, detailed lesson plans, and plenty of volunteer support so you can teach an effective lesson.

Volunteers only need to be able to tutor on a weekly basis for a minimum of 1 hour per week, or 1 session per week.

Follow the Reading Partners structured curriculum.

Sessions are held at the same day/time and with the same student each week.

A positive attitude learning learning, celebrating differences, and young learners.

Complete a volunteer application, schedule a 1.5 hour Tutor Orientation, and complete a background check with the NYC Department of Education.
