Biology Teacher

Our Charter High School seeks a dedicated and innovative Biology Teacher to join our diverse learning community. The ideal candidate will inspire scientific curiosity and critical thinking while supporting our students' academic and personal growth as they prepare for Regent's examinations and post-secondary success.

• Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned curriculum for science courses, including Biology and/or Advanced Life Science

• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning, scientific inquiry, and student engagement

• Develop and execute detailed lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, laboratory experiments, and real-world applications relevant to students' lives and future careers

• Prepare students for New York State Regents examinations in science

• Assess student progress through various methods including formal assessments, lab reports, projects, and classroom participation

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students

• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress

• Collaborate with special education teachers to support students with IEPs and provide appropriate accommodation.

• Participate in department meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives

• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress

• Supervise and ensure safety during laboratory activities

• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies

• Support students in developing college and career readiness skills through scientific literacy

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field

• Prefer Valid New York State teaching certification (not required).

• Strong content knowledge across multiple science disciplines

• Experience with laboratory safety protocols and procedures
