Job SummaryThe EHS Specialist will assess current facilities and personnel, report findings to facility staff and management, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and FDEP regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining training and record‑keeping, conducting audits, and collaborating with facility personnel to address safety and environmental issues.
Essential Functions- Comply with all OSHA mandated training requirements by providing training and retaining proper documentation.
- Enter all training, injuries, and statistical data into the system and retain records.
- Conduct safety, health, and environmental audits and reviews.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and updating environmental/safety/industrial hygiene programs.
- Track and maintain MSDS and chemical data to meet agency expectations.
- Report and comply with all EPA, FDEP, and local environmental regulations.
- Coordinate and meet all DOT regulations regarding the shipping of waste streams.
- Assist supervisors and managers with incident investigations.
- Process proper paperwork for PPE reimbursement.
- Conduct all hearing and respiratory fit tests as needed.
- Make recommendations for PPE hazard assessments and PPE selection.
- Perform or assist with operations required to maintain workflow or respond to production requirements.
- Attend training seminars to obtain and maintain required Agency management certifications.
- Assist HR Department with special projects as needed.
- Travel may be required.
- Required physical tasks include lifting up to 40 lbs., kneeling, squatting, and standing for long periods; fall protection may be required for work above 4 ft.

- AA/AS degree in industrial safety, hygiene, biology, or chemistry.
- Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene or environmental compliance programs preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDEP, NFPA, SARA III, ADA, and workers’ compensation regulations a plus.
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist desired.
- Possession of OSHA 501 and/or 511 certification highly desired.
- 3‑5 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
- Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach as needed.
- Stand for sustained periods and walk long distances.
- Operate machinery within arm’s reach and drive motor vehicles or heavy equipment with adequate visual acuity.
- Pass a pulmonary function test and wear a respirator to reduce hazards.
- Work in environments exposing hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, heat, or chemicals.
