Senior Data Scientist, Analytics at David Energy

David Energy is creating a new kind of power company. We use software to monitor real-time energy usage and analyze data to maximize value from energy assets via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to run the grid on clean energy 24/7.

We are seeking a senior data scientist to own analyses and data analytics for a growing network of energy assets in concert with real-time energy markets. This role focuses on aligning customer energy usage with the cheapest and cleanest wholesale energy to offer lower rates with cleaner energy, and requires the ability to scale data-driven decisions automatically.

• Solve complex business problems (e.g., cost allocation, error detection, data imputation) to deliver insights that advance business initiatives
• Own and evolve our data ecosystem (Snowflake + dbt) and ensure data is accurate and well-structured
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs, define metrics, and establish reporting frameworks
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the company
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to increase operational accuracy and efficiency
• Design and establish a culture of rigorous, data-informed decision making

• Clear communication skills with people at all levels of technical ability
• 5+ years of experience delivering data analytics and analyses with demonstrated impact
• Fluency in SQL
• Ability to deliver in an early-stage startup environment (proactive ownership, independence in uncertainty)

• Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (e.g., physics, statistics, mathematics, economics)
• Experience with dbt
• Experience with Python
• Experience in energy trading, grid operations, or deregulated energy markets (e.g., ERCOT, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM)

• $160,000 plus equity, depending on experience
