Overview
The transition from military service to a civilian career can be intimidating, but when you find a company with values that resonate with you, it can change your experience. “My advice is don’t hold back. You may not realize just how much your military experience aligns with what we’re looking for,” says John, military veteran and Talent Acquisition Specialist. In recognition of National Hire a Veteran Day, Rentokil Terminix continues its “Conversations with TA” series with a special edition featuring John’s advice for veterans navigating their career transition.
Rolewithin our Talent Acquisition (TA) team
I’m currently a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Rentokil Terminix, and I am quickly approaching my one-year anniversary with the company. I primarily recruit for technician roles across the organization—positions that are absolutely vital to our service operations. I’m proud to be part of the Salute CRG, which has truly helped make the company feel more like home.
Military serviceI served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years as a Human Resources professional. Over the course of my military career, I held a variety of roles that helped me grow personally and professionally. Each position taught me the value of discipline, teamwork, and adaptability—skills that I continue to rely on every day in my civilian career.
Skills from military serviceVeterans often have exactly the mindset and work ethic needed for technician roles—dependability, problem-solving, and a willingness to work hard in challenging conditions. Many also bring a strong sense of accountability and structure, which are key to success in the field. Their ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently makes them natural fits for these roles.
Advice for veterans considering applyingMy advice is don’t hold back. You may not realize just how much your military experience aligns with what we’re looking for. Whether you worked in logistics, engineering, HR, or any other field, those skills translate. Reach out, ask questions, and get to know our team. We’re here to support your transition and help you find the right fit.
CultureWhat I appreciate most about our company’s culture is how inclusive and mission-driven it is. As a Salute CRG member, I’ve seen how committed Rentokil Terminix is to creating a sense of community—not just for veterans, but for all employees. There’s a real emphasis on respect, integrity, and teamwork, which aligns closely with the values I learned in the military. It’s a culture where people are encouraged to grow, support each other, and bring their full selves to work every day.
