Position Overview: The Field Technician is required to troubleshoot and resolve solar PV and battery storage system issues, including emergency repairs/corrective maintenance, design change requirements, and equipment modifications/upgrades. Position will also be responsible for Preventative Maintenance activities to support system performance of O&M portfolio, as well as, QA/QC inspections, system commissioning and pre-con site assessments.
Responsibilities- Learning and performing routine maintenance tasks on solar modules and associated equipment.
- Assisting higher-level technicians with troubleshooting and resolving minor system issues.
- Demonstrating the ability to complete basic tasks independently and without direct supervision.
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of electrical diagrams and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Work is limited to systems rated at 1000 VDC and below 600 VAC.
- Possessing strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, including proper PPE selection and awareness of arc flash and shock hazards.
- Demonstrating proficiency in assigned tasks; once competence is verified, tasks may be performed independently.
- Assisting with site inspections and field evaluations.
- Supporting equipment and component retrofits on site.
- Maintaining accurate documentation in Salesforce, Insperity, and inventory management systems.
- Adhering to all Max Solar safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors, and providing basic technical support to customers when needed.
- Staying informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, including a foundational understanding of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) and networking principles.
- Understanding general NEC requirements for photovoltaic systems and adhering to industry best practices (IEC-62446, IEC-62548, IEC-630049, IEC-61724, NREL-2018 Best Practices for O&M).
