About the jobThe Reliability Program Coordination Team identifies and manages reliability improvements for steel producing equipment and facilities, minimizes downtime, and ensures operational efficiency. The Reliability Engineer reports to the Preventive Maintenance Engineer.
Responsibilities- Leads or participates in Equipment Criticality Assessments, Critical Spares Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses, FMEA
- Routinely accesses and queries the CMMS (Maximo) and other equipment databases for data as needed
- Provides input to engineering standards based on equipment failure data and lessons learned
- Manages special initiative projects under the direction of the Corporate Preventive Maintenance Engineer
- Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating equipment reliability and design improvements
- Works with the Engineering Department to ensure reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations
- Periodically travels to other Universal sites to benchmark reliability initiatives and develop best practices
- Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics - Problem-Solving:

Prior experience in a maintenance or engineering role with specific steel industry experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years heavy industrial or manufacturing (steel making) experience preferred
- Reliability-centered maintenance experience
- Knowledge of IBM Maximo EAM platform is a strong plus
Compensation: $90,
