About the Role

In this high-visibility leadership position, you'll oversee the seamless operation of our Central Utility Plant, ensuring that our Endicott campus remains a powerhouse of productivity. Your expertise will safeguard mission-critical utilities, minimize downtime, and propel system enhancements that support sustainable growth. Reporting directly to senior management, you'll foster a collaborative environment where safety and excellence are non-negotiable. This full-time role demands a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial setting and is committed to 24/7 operational uptime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership and Development
    :
    Lead, mentor, and supervise a dedicated team of utility technicians and operators. Cultivate a high-performance culture emphasizing safety protocols, collaborative teamwork, and personal accountability. Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing training, and implement strategies to boost morale and retention in a round-the-clock operation.
  • System Reliability and Operations
    :
    Oversee the end-to-end management of high-pressure steam boilers, chilled water systems, and compressed air networks. Ensure flawless 24/7/365 production by coordinating routine inspections, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and advanced troubleshooting to prevent disruptions and maintain peak performance.
  • Strategic Maintenance and Optimization
    :
    Design and execute comprehensive maintenance plans, including predictive analytics and condition-based monitoring. Develop innovative strategies to optimize energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance system longevity—leveraging data-driven insights to align with environmental sustainability goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    :
    Proactively identify potential risks in utility operations and implement robust mitigation measures. Ensure adherence to all relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ASME), environmental regulations, and industry best practices, while conducting regular audits and emergency response drills.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    :
    Partner with campus tenants, engineering teams, and external vendors to align utility services with business needs. Analyze usage trends, forecast demands, and recommend upgrades or expansions to support future growth.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    :
    Champion process improvements using tools like Lean Six Sigma or root cause analysis. Track KPIs such as uptime, energy consumption, and maintenance costs, reporting progress to stakeholders and driving initiatives that deliver measurable ROI.
Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience
    : A minimum of 10+ years in managing large-scale HVAC, mechanical, or utility systems within industrial environments, such as manufacturing plants, data centers, or power generation facilities. Hands-on experience with steam, chilled water, and compressed air systems is essential.
  • Educational Background
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is highly preferred. Advanced certifications (e.g., PE license, CEM, or boiler operator certification) are a plus.
