Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Manager 2 – Propulsion Engineering to join our team at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit. The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.

The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air‑breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air‑breathing propulsion systems.

Job Responsibilities

Manage a group of multi-disciplinary analysis engineers supporting current development programs, production programs and follow‑on pursuits for air‑breathing propulsion RAMJET and SCRAMJET product lines. The manager will ensure that the technical plans meet the program requirements, scope, and cost/schedule constraints. In addition, the manager will actively manage their direct reports in areas such as safety, job expectations, quality of work, career goals, mentoring/coaching, and Engineering Department accountabilities.

Further, he/she will ensure the staff receives the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles and will provide feedback with respect to their individual performance levels.

Job Responsibilities
  • Planning, prioritization, allocation, and management of resources to ensure program engineering assignments are completed on schedule and within budget to the appropriate technical rigor as well as meeting department budgetary goals.
  • Mentor and motivate to ensure a high performing engineering team, including use of Development Plans, stretch assignments, 1:1 feedback, training, recognition, promotion/equity, and other tools to develop and reward our engineering talent.
  • Establish and promote high standards for safety and quality. Maintain assigned Northrop Grumman engineering processes and drive technical excellence by ensuring team output meets technical standards.
  • Support technology growth in innovation identification, roadmap development, and proposal support.
  • Ensure that Engineering, Program Management, and other functional departments are aligned in understanding program/proposal goals and the technical and programmatic approaches to achieve these goals.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.
  • Take a leadership role in solving significant engineering issues. Work with lead/chief engineers to develop plans to resolve the issues, communicate the plan, ensure appropriate technical resources are applied, and advise senior management on progress.
  • Represent and communicate Northrop Grumman technical capabilities and technologies to internal and external customers.
