What You’ll Do
- Design and implement wireless networks for retail and campus environments
- Conduct predictive, passive, and active site surveys using professional tools
- Optimize RF performance and troubleshoot complex wireless issues
- Manage Cisco wireless infrastructure including WLCs, APs, Catalyst Center, and ISE
- Leverage Cisco Spaces for location analytics, IoT services, and user engagement
- Integrate wireless systems with broader network infrastructure and business platforms
- Develop documentation and training materials for global teams
- Lead wireless deployment projects and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in wireless network engineering
- Expert‑level understanding of RF principles and IEEE 802.11 protocols including WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E
- Experience designing high‑density wireless networks for voice, video, and IoT
- Mastery of wireless site survey tools such as Ekahau Pro and Air Magnet
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco WLCs (9800 series and legacy), Cisco APs, and Meraki devices
- Strong working knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE for policy and access control
- In‑depth experience with Cisco Spaces including data analytics, IoT services, and API integration
- Advanced RF tuning and traffic analysis skills using tools like Wireshark
- Experience implementing QoS and capacity planning strategies
- Solid foundation in routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP)
- Bonus:
Scripting experience with Python and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform - Project management experience for large‑scale wireless deployments
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP Enterprise (Wireless), CWNA/CWDP/CWSP, or Ekahau ECSE
- A Deep Cisco Wireless Expert:
They must have hands‑on mastery of the latest Cisco wireless technologies, including 9800 series Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Catalyst Center (formerly DNA Center), and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE). - An RF Engineering Guru:
The role requires an expert‑level understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) principles and IEEE 802.11 protocols like WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E. This person must be skilled in designing for complex environments like high‑density campuses and retail locations. - Proficient with Professional Survey Tools:
Mastery of tools like Ekahau Pro or Air Magnet is essential for designing, validating, and troubleshooting wireless networks. - Experienced with Cisco Spaces: A key requirement is in‑depth experience with Cisco Spaces, which is used for location analytics, IoT services, and API integration. This is a specialized skill that narrows the candidate pool significantly.
- A Seasoned Professional:
The candidate needs over 5 years of dedicated wireless engineering experience and should be capable of leading large‑scale deployment projects. - Well‑Rounded in Networking:
They must also have a solid foundation in traditional routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, VLANs) to ensure seamless integration. - Certified and Educated:
The ideal candidate would hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and professional certifications such as CCNP Enterprise (Wireless), CWNA/CWDP, or Ekahau ECSE.
