Principal Package Engineer

Overview

Join Siemens Healthineers as a Principal Package Engineer and lead packaging improvement projects across the Diagnostics business. This dynamic role partners closely with sustainability experts to align packaging enhancements with business objectives and sustainability goals.

• Identify and prioritize packaging improvement opportunities across the product portfolio, balancing cost, quality, and operational factors.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams to design, test, and deploy innovative packaging solutions, coordinating with sustainability package engineers.
• Develop and standardize packaging processes and documentation, ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to enhance packaging performance and reduce waste.
• Partner with R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Marketing, and external suppliers to implement robust and cost‑effective packaging systems.
• Support response to tender requests with technical packaging specifications, validations, and process documentation.
• Monitor packaging performance metrics and report progress on key initiatives to leadership.
• Stay current with advancements in packaging materials, automation, and regulatory trends.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, mentor engineers, and champion collaborative culture with sustainability initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 8‑10 years of packaging engineering and operations experience with a proven record of leading projects.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements (ASTM/ISO standards).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and budgets in fast‑paced environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with CAD, packaging design, validation protocols, and statistical analysis tools.
• Familiarity with sustainability principles and willingness to partner on eco‑friendly initiatives.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Base Pay Range: $128,480 – $192,720 (geography and experience may affect starting pay).
