Laser Product Engineer, Senior

MACOM sells and distributes products globally via a sales channel comprised of a direct field sales force, authorized sales representatives and leading industry distributors. Our sales team is trained across all of our products to give our customers insights into our entire portfolio.

The Senior Product Engineer will be working as member of our PE team with our R&D teams. A successful candidate will be responsible of maintaining and improving released laser products or laser product lines, monitor and report yield and performance trends, collaborate with CMs, the fab and other engineering teams on keeping the product line healthy. In addition, the product engineer will help drive new product developments to their full release.

Hands on device characterization duties can be part of the assignment if the candidate expresses interest.

• Generate and present run charts and SPC charts.
• Observe, report, understand and work towards a solution on product yield issues.
• Daily interaction with the production engineers for feedback and trouble shooting.
• Review test data and release product to finished goods inventory.
• Review Test Data and report to R&D for new development wafers.
• Generate specifications and sorting algorithms for new products.
• Generate test requirements for new product development.
• Generate internal Part numbers and BOM for new products
• Generate and optimize automated test ids and release them.

• BS, (MS or PhD preferred) in Mathematics or technical field. (EE preferred)
• Knowledge of Basic Statistics.
• Ability to write software to electronically allocate devices by test performance.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

• Six Sigma green belt or above.
• Knowledge of laser parameters.
• Knowledge of SQL, C, Matlab, MS Excel, JMP, Python.
• Ability to test lasers electrically and optically.
• General knowledge of MS Windows operating and computer networking.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Base salary: $69,800/yr - $120,000/yr
