Job Summary

Seeking a Metallurgical Engineer with basic knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys. This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirements.
  • Material related non-conformance assessments and dispositions.
  • Root cause analysis.
  • Gas turbine material selection:
    Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine. This includes forging, sheet metal, plate, bar.
  • Responsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Training

Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related field.

Skills & Experience
  • 0-15+ years of experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred.
  • 0-15+ years of experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defects.
  • Available for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames.
  • Process and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable.
  • Metallurgical lab evaluation technique experience preferred.
  • Familiar with commercial material specifications domestic and international.
  • Able to interpret engineering prints.
  • Knowledge of welding / brazing processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of protective coatings for gas turbine components preferred.
  • Investment casting process.
