Job SummarySeeking a Metallurgical Engineer with basic knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys. This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirements.
- Material related non-conformance assessments and dispositions.
- Root cause analysis.
- Gas turbine material selection:
Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine. This includes forging, sheet metal, plate, bar. - Responsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related field.
Skills & Experience- 0-15+ years of experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred.
- 0-15+ years of experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defects.
- Available for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames.
- Process and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable.
- Metallurgical lab evaluation technique experience preferred.
- Familiar with commercial material specifications domestic and international.
- Able to interpret engineering prints.
- Knowledge of welding / brazing processes preferred.
- Knowledge of protective coatings for gas turbine components preferred.
- Investment casting process.
