Construction Engineer

Vali Cooper International is seeking a full‑time Construction Engineer for the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center EHRM Construction Services.

• By trade a Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture from an accredited university. 10 years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Five years of management experience in mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.
• Ability to pass a background check that includes verification of at least three years of residency in the United States.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Owner’s representative experience for the federal government.
• Design and construction management experience for medical facilities.

• Provides project construction consultation for a single major program or for multiple projects.
• Provides consultation on business and technical management involving multidisciplinary and diverse functional activities.
• Responsible for providing information to the Chief Projects Officer regarding technical quality, cost, and schedule.
• Maintains daily progress reports and inspection reports, and leads the inspection and quality assurance team assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective oversight.
• Works with the VA Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) in the Technical Information Library engineering specification implementation.

• Basic knowledge of all engineering disciplines for hospital construction.
• Strong verbal communication skills to brief owners during project update briefings.
• Strong organizational skills to track projects, prepare meeting minutes, and meet required deadlines.
• Must be able to complete work during normal business hours, with occasional night, holiday, and weekend work required.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and basic Excel.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, walk long distances on rough and uneven surfaces, stand for long periods, lift construction materials for inspections, and climb ladders and scaffolding.
