Transmission Planning/Studies Engineer – Jacobs

Your impactThe energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. With the increasing number of large loads such as data centers, the role of transmission planners is more important than ever in shaping the grid of the future.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of steady‑state and transient power system studies.
- Participate in meetings with utilities as part of project delivery or business development.
- Lead or support project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (i.e., from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close‑out).
- Work closely with team members across North America and globally.
- Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other applicable technical committees and stay up to date with latest standards and requirements.
- Advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 4 years of direct experience with power system studies using PSS/E, TARA, and/or PSCAD.
- Strong background with at least one of the following system operators: ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, IESO.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge and experience with NERC, FERC, and NPCC reliability standards.
- Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel within North America.
- Direct experience with National Grid and/or Eversource.
- Experience with large loads such as data centers.
- Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license.
