Position Overview
Columbia Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (without tenure, but on tenure‑track) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, with start date July 1 2026.
We welcome applications in all areas of biomedical engineering, with particular emphasis on biomedical imaging and neural engineering.
Areas of Interest- Biomedical Imaging: advanced MRI methods, functional and structural neuroimaging, optical imaging, molecular and cellular imaging, ultrasonic imaging, image‑guided interventions, computational imaging, multi‑modality imaging, AI‑driven imaging analytics, and imaging technologies for precision medicine.
- Neural Engineering: brain‑machine interfaces, neuromodulation, neural signal processing, neurotechnology development, computational and systems neuroscience, neural recording and stimulation technologies, wearable and implantable neural interfaces, and machine‑learning approaches for decoding brain activity.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field, or its professional equivalent, by the start date.
Applicants should demonstrate the potential for pioneering research and effective teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Responsibilities- Develop an original, leading, and externally funded research program.
- Contribute to the educational mission through teaching and mentorship.
- Participate actively in Columbia's vibrant multidisciplinary research community.
