Fire Protection Engineer, Intermediate –
Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) located in West Milton, NY.
Our Building and Fire Protection Engineering team is seeking a dedicated professional passionate about fire safety and engineering. This role supports the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors and the training of sailors who operate these reactors.
Responsibilities- Oversee facility modifications and new construction to ensure proper design and installation of fire safety systems.
- Oversee maintenance of fire detection, fire suppression, and fire communication systems.
- Upgrade fire protection systems and equipment to be more effective.
- Perform code evaluations in support of site operations and resolve fire code deficiencies.
- Review and develop fire hazard analyses and facility assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a federal background investigation.
- Familiarity with the ICC Codes/Building Code set for New York State.
- Experience with applicable NFPA standards.
- Experience with the development of construction documents (drawings, specifications, cost estimates).
- Experience with design and maintenance of fire protection systems.

$77,900.00 – $ annually (salary based on experience, qualifications, market and business considerations).
