Field Engineer – Heavy Civil Infrastructure
We’re seeking Field Engineers at various levels to support large, heavy‑civil infrastructure programs—including highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and airport projects delivered through both traditional and alternative methods. You’ll be a key member of the project team, responsible for supporting field operations, ensuring technical accuracy, and maintaining compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Prepare and maintain field reports, logs, and documentation of progress, quantities, and site conditions.
- Support development of work plans, look‑ahead schedules, and coordination of upcoming construction activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support timely delivery of materials, equipment, and field resources.
- Participate in quality control activities, including inspections, material sampling, and documentation of test results.
- Track and verify installed quantities to support progress billing, earned value reporting, and cost tracking.
- Support safety initiatives through field engagement, participation in toolbox talks, and reinforcement of jobsite safety culture.
- Support and coordinate resolution of field issues and discrepancies in collaboration with construction, design, and quality teams.
- Prepare and track responses to RFIs to ensure timely, technically accurate communication and alignment with approved design and technical baselines.
- Participate in project close‑out activities, including punch list resolution, turnover documentation, and as‑built record preparation.

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience in field engineering or construction management on heavy‑civil infrastructure projects, preferably in highways, roads, bridges, transit (passenger rail or bus), or aviation sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with project scheduling, quality control, and document management processes.
- Experience with industry‑standard project and construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS, MS Project, Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Master's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Engineer in Training (EIT), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect Registration (AIA).
- Experience with large (> $500 M) complex heavy‑civil infrastructure projects that include highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and/or airport projects.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods (e.g., DB, PDB, P3, CMGC, CMAR, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software.
The salary range for this role is $125 k–$156 k per year ($60–$75 per hour). The final salary offered will be based on multiple factors and thoughtfully aligned with each candidate’s level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, geographic location, etc.
