Expected salary range: $120,000 – $170,000 (depending on experience).

As a Field Engineer at Frontier-Kemper, reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on advanced material acquisitions and pre‑construction deliverables.
• Develop and assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
• Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre‑construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
• Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
• Monitor and participate daily in field construction processes, providing layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements and obtaining confirmations from design engineers as needed.
• Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFIs, and performance records; maintain accurate payment records.
• Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution, providing accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
• Participate in change orders and claims management.
• Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
• Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
• Manage and submit project close‑out in coordination with the client and third parties.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar accredited field.
• 3 or more years of civil construction experience.
• Experience on large heavy civil infrastructure projects in dense urban settings with public sector clients a plus.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
• Project controls techniques (cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
• Strong working knowledge of the critical path method and resource scheduling.
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and Primavera P6.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
