Sr. Cost Engineer

Overview

Haydan Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Cost Engineer, reporting to the Senior Project Manager and working closely with the Cost Manager, to support the Borough-Based Jails (BBJ) Program. The candidate should have knowledge of the construction process and experience on large-scale projects.

• Program cost controls, including budget updating, forecasting, and earned value tracking.
• Review contractor change orders, schedules of values, and cost proposals.
• Track and reconcile payments, invoices, and commitments at the project and program level.
• Assist in the review of contractor claims and provide support during negotiations.
• Coordinate with schedulers, estimators, and project managers for integrated program reporting.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasts.
• Support weekly and monthly meetings and progress reporting.
• Support the implementation of cost control software within the PMIS.
• Strong problem recognition/avoidance/resolutions skills.
• Proficiency with cost management software (Primavera Cost Manager, Prism, Procore, E-Builder or similar).
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, dashboards).
• Proficient in SharePoint and MS Office.
• Strong organization skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and numeracy skills in a client-facing capacity.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and emerging technologies.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Cost Management, Engineering, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in cost engineering, cost control, estimating, or project controls.
• Experience on large-scale ($100M+) construction programs; NYC public agency experience (DDC, MTA, SCA, etc.) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with design-build delivery methods desirable.

$55-$57/Hr.
