Position Summary

Responsible for managing all aspects of campus energy management program. This position has an active management role in measuring, collecting, and reporting on energy data and identifies relevant goals and areas for improvement with respect to infrastructure and utility system efficiencies and energy reductions goals. This position directly supervises the campus Energy Engineers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and manages infrastructure upgrade and facility renewal projects with a goal of improving efficiency and reducing overall campus carbon footprint. Oversees all aspects of projects from initial study through construction completion and closeout.
  • Develops and manages comprehensive energy management strategies and plans.
  • Responsible for setting target goals for campus energy reduction. Develops measurement metrics and utility meter dashboards for real time tracking and reporting of campus energy usage on all utility systems.
  • Directly supervises, trains, and supports campus Energy Engineers.
  • Reviews construction projects with a specific focus on sound engineering design and incorporation of energy conservation elements. Reviews, comments, and presents recommendations to the project management team.
  • Provides technical expertise in identifying and the ultimate implementation of operational performance improvements.
  • Analyzes utility bills, rates, and tariffs. Generates reports of historical energy usage data and presents such data to various operational team managers. Works with operation managers and supervisors on specific goals and areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for reporting and filing to satisfy regulatory requirements on energy usage reporting including LL84, LL87, and LL97. Evaluates and applies for grants, special funding, or other relevant programs to fund energy savings and sustainable programs.
  • Keep up to date with NYC's energy legislation.
  • Scouts for new technologies and best practices in the industry that helps to reduce energy use and carbon footprint.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or other related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 4+ years relevant experience in facilities management, energy management, or equivalent field.
  • Working knowledge of various infrastructure systems.
  • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, lighting) and building management control systems.
  • Experience in carrying out site inspections, energy audits, energy modeling and Measurement & Verification is a plus.
  • Experience working in a hospital/research university is a plus.
  • Previous management experience a plus.
  • Knowledge on ALC, Siemens and Schnider BMS systems is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Candidates with CEM, CMVP or PE is preferred.
