Systems Engineer at Smart Design

Smart design is looking for a contract systems engineer for a ~6-9 month engagement, with the potential to transition to full-time.

• 5 to 10 years of experience
• BS or higher in relevant area (Computer or Electrical Engineering)
• Experience in design of electronic circuits which includes schematics and board layout (KiCad/Altium)
• Experience with design of embedded low power circuits
• Experience with design of power subsystems
• Good skills in soldering, assembling and reworking PCB boards with Surface Mount and Thru Hole components
• Good understanding of signal integrity
• High proficiency with using test and measurement equipment like Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes
• Ability to align project goals with scheduling and design complexity

• Ability to write C/C++ in embedded environments
• Familiar with communication interfaces like i2c, One Wire, UART, USB, BLE, SPI
• Experience with version control ‘GIT’ as applied to software development
• Interest and ability to work with various technical and non-technical disciplines

Please note, the role is based in Brooklyn and the candidate will be onsite a minimum of 4 days per week.

Rates will be determined based on experience but ranging from $75-100/hour.
