Location: Holmdel, NJ or New York, NY (Hybrid)

Reports to: Vice President of Development & Operations

Clean Slate Solar develops, owns, and operates commercial and community solar projects across New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania. Our focus is on expanding equitable access to clean energy, with projects ranging from large rooftop systems to select ground‑mounted arrays. We’re committed to building renewable energy solutions that benefit local communities, lower energy costs, and support a just energy transition.

We’re looking for a Project Development Associate to support our growing portfolio of community solar projects. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple stages of project development from pre‑construction through completion while gaining hands‑on experience in the renewable energy industry.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to learn. You’ll work closely with the Vice President of Development & Operations and collaborate with engineering firms, construction team and utilities to ensure project success. This position also offers exposure to business development and project finance activities as part of a small, fast‑paced, and mission‑driven team.

• Coordinate and track project deliverables, including solar designs, site surveys, structural reports, and electrical layouts.
• Maintain organized project documentation, task trackers, and communication logs.
• Support permitting and interconnection processes by preparing and submitting required materials to utilities and local authorities.
• Liaise with vendors, consultants, and contractors to schedule surveys, collect bids, and manage deliverables.
• Assist with construction oversight by maintaining project logs, utility close‑out documentation, and AHJ inspection records.
• Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and schedules to support the development and finance teams.
• Communicate project updates clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal project management processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or a related field (STEM background preferred, not required).
• 1–2 years of experience in renewable energy, construction, or project coordination preferred (internship experience acceptable).
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with great attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort with project management or CRM tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
