Position: Senior Cost Estimator 1 - New Jersey
Location: New York

Senior Cost Estimator 1 – New Jersey

Toscano Clements Taylor Cost Consultants is looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to join our team on‑site in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review cost estimates at all design and construction stages to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with project scope.
  • Prepare detailed unit‑price and lump‑sum estimates using labor, material, and equipment rates, applying Risk Assessment, Life‑Cycle Cost Analysis and Value Engineering techniques.
  • Participate in design and construction meetings, provide insights on cost drivers, cost‑reduction strategies, and scope alignment, and coordinate with project teams and owner representatives to validate and reconcile estimates.
  • Develop written reports that summarize estimate reviews, clarifications, and value options; contribute to project cost reports and client presentations.
  • Mentor junior staff, conduct internal quality‑control reviews, and support continuous improvement initiatives across project controls.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 15+ years of cost‑estimation and preconstruction experience, with significant rail, mass‑transit, or infrastructure project exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of civil/site construction, structural, mechanical/electrical systems, and architectural finishes; familiarity with public‑sector delivery methods and related documentation.
  • Proficiency in cost‑estimating software (e.g., MC2, RSMeans), Microsoft Excel/Word, and project‑controls systems; ability to analyze scope documentation, drawings, specifications, and historical data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of summarizing technical findings for internal and client audiences.
