DescriptionThe HVAC Operations Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team while managing HVAC-focused client accounts and vertical-level financial performance. This role requires strong HVAC trade knowledge to effectively support preventive maintenance programs, reactive repairs, capital replacements, and complex HVAC service operations.
In this role, you will also cultivate and strengthen client and cross-departmental relationships through collaboration, clear communication, and technical credibility. You will use organizational, prioritization, and leadership skills to coach and guide team members in a fast-paced, high-volume HVAC service environment.
Requirements Team Management and Performance- Oversee a varying number of team members supporting HVAC preventive maintenance, reactive service, and project work.
- Identify HVAC-specific training needs and development schedules.
- Establish career pathing and development plans with emphasis on HVAC operational knowledge.
- Review team performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including HVAC response times, completion rates, and quality metrics.
- Analyze service trends related to HVAC systems, seasonal volume fluctuations, and equipment performance.
- Oversee HVAC work order lifecycle, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately each month and properly prepared for invoicing to support month-end financial close.
- Analyze HVAC service volume trends, labor utilization, and asset performance.
- Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs, HVAC safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and assist with escalated, high-visibility, or technically complex HVAC issues.
- Review key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement SOPs aligned with HVAC best practices.
- Provide operational support, when required, on the execution of HVAC work orders and service delivery.
- Provide executive-level reporting on HVAC account performance.
- Maintain ownership of assigned HVAC account and vertical-level financials.
- Track financial performance related to HVAC labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to billing terms, validate HVAC scope accuracy, and maximize profitability.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through technical expertise and proactive communication.
- Lead client calls, manage HVAC-related escalations, and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
- Serve as a trusted advisor on HVAC system performance, lifecycle planning, and capital replacement strategies.
- Support departmental and organizational initiatives related to HVAC service delivery and growth.
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring HVAC issues, system failures, or cost overruns.
- Collaborate with business development and operations teams on HVAC service expansion, pricing strategies, and client solutions.
- Foster cross-departmental relationships with operations, projects, procurement, and safety teams.
- Assist in HVAC work order scoping, vendor partner selection, and subcontractor negotiations.
- Assist in monitoring and/or executing after-hours HVAC tasks, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Travel as required to support client sites, HVAC projects, and operational needs.
- Ability to prioritize tasks with overlapping and/or conflicting deadlines in a service-driven environment.
- Perform other duties as required by leadership.
- Bachelor's degree or related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in account management.
- Previous management experience.
- Proven track record of managing and growing key accounts.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance/construction a plus.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills necessary.
Physical Requirements

This position works in an environment with moderate noise level (business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to read and understand work instructions.
