Join Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. as a full‑time Project Estimator for upcoming MTA Transit, NJ Transit and Amtrak projects.

$75,000.00/yr - $/yr

• Create cost estimates and project/program budgets for design‑build and construction efforts.
• Perform project site visits to build and update estimates and budgets.
• Develop and present baseline and updated budgets, cost projections, and cost analytics to client and PM team.
• Review, analyze, and comment on contractor payment schedules and breakdowns.
• Create independent cost estimates for change orders/additional work orders.
• Review contractor‑submitted cost proposals and create cost comparison documents.
• Assist in negotiating change orders/additional work orders.
• Provide guidance on fair‑and‑reasonable contractor proposals and unit‑cost pricing.
• Assist with cost/budget elements of monthly status reporting.
• Attend and participate in project meetings as required.
• All related duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in planning, estimating, monitoring and project controls of rail transit construction/design‑build projects or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills with thorough knowledge of construction industry cost estimating, budgeting principles, practices, and construction means and methods applicable to the heavy civil/rail transit field.
• HS Diploma/Equivalent required; BS Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Ability to understand and interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documents.
• Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients, supervisors, and project team members.

• Frequent stationary position, handling, inspecting, and/or feeling documents, materials and equipment.
• Regular movement on project sites, buildings, ladder use, and accessing testing materials for prolonged periods.
• Exposure to hazards of operating rail transit systems: high‑speed trains adjacent, electrified third rail or catenary, stone ballast, track systems, etc.
• May require substance abuse testing, computer use, and occasional motor‑vehicle operation.
