Our Water Resources practice is growing. This position will be a unique opportunity to join a growing, collaborative, and multi-disciplinary team comprised of civil engineers, landscape architects, and planners focused on improving the sustainability and resiliency of the communities we serve.
ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a Director of Water Resources/Group Manager with 10+ years of experience in Water Resources. Experience to lead NV5’s New York Water Resource group. The group manager will direct a team of civil engineering designers and will provide oversight for stormwater management projects.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities with the goal of growing the practice. The candidate should have strong technical skills in modeling, experience with designing green stormwater infrastructure systems within public rights-of-ways and experience with NYCDEP, and a thorough understanding of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
The position is ideally suited for a candidate with:
- Proven experience with both design and project management of urban water resources and green stormwater infrastructureprojects
- Proven abilities as a project manager and possessing the necessary skills to successfully manage projects, including the ability to mentor designers, properly schedule deliverables, budgeting, and developing a comfortable rapport with clients, team members, and external partners.
- Enthusiasm to work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team comprised of engineers, landscape architects, and planners to make positive and impactful change in our communities through design.
- Proven ability and clear enthusiasm to help office grow NV5’s water resources and green infrastructure practice
- Experience in business development, including identifying and responding to requests for proposals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical oversight and design duties will include performing and reviewing design, report writing, specification development, scheduling, QA/QC, budgeting, and cost estimating. Project management duties include scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing.
- The position will require coordination with internal project team members within the New York office and several regional NV5 offices, as well as subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting other teams in the office as needed.
- Marketing and Business Development efforts, such as client outreach, proposal writing and participating in business development and marketing events and activities.
- P.E. License
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering
- At least 10 years of design experience
- Proven project management experience
- Proven ability to mentor junior staff
- Proficient in the necessary software including AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient in Hydrology and Hydraulic Modeling for urban stormwater management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for design and working within a team
- Ability to balance multiple projects at once

- P.E. License
