Job Description

AECOM is seeking Estimators specializing in general construction estimating
**** to be based in New York, NY. Will operate as an Estimator working directly with the NYC SCA on projects related to schools throughout New York City and the surrounding boroughs.

• Confer with a broad range of technical, professional, and managerial personnel as well as designers, consultants, and contractors to coordinate and establish a detailed cost estimate.
• Prepare and/or ensure the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and/or construction.
• Supervise the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications, or contract changes.
• Review and report on contract estimates prepared by private consultants; recommend if an estimate is appropriate for SCA's implementation.
• Participate in cost negotiations.
• Plan, assign and review the cost-estimating work of estimates.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
• Utilize computer-based estimating software and cost databases to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency.

• BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

• Specializing in General Construction estimating
• Excellence in calculating prime time, labor escalation, and unstandardized coefficient.
• Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services, or related coursework.
• 8 years of experience as an estimator.
