Assistant Vice President - Structural Engineer
The role is within WSP’s national Geotechnical and Tunneling group, and Transportation and Infrastructure business line.
Senior Technical Manager – Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership on underground structural engineering projects and will be based out of our New York City office.
- Managing structural engineers and leading discipline‑specific tasks.
- Advancing and implementing state‑of‑the‑art structural engineering practices, including advanced modelling, analysis and digital delivery tools, and AI.
- Driving the development of innovative technical concepts to reduce construction cost, risk, and project duration.
- Advising clients on how to achieve their goals and leading successful pursuits for WSP.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- 12+ years of experience designing tunnels, retaining walls, bridges and related structures.
- Experienced in the design and analysis of reinforced concrete and structural steel.
- Professional Engineer Registration in New York State; willing to obtain PE registration in other states.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Direct experience with MTA (NYCT) and subway station framing.
- Experience with inspection and rehabilitation‑design of underground structures.
- Familiarity with finite element and beam‑spring modeling.
- Experience with construction cost estimating.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods.
Expected Salary (New York City): $160 K–$190 K
