Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with commercial diving certification and experience to perform structural inspections both above and below water.
As part of our New York City (Midtown Manhattan) dive team, you will be working with a professional engineering inspection team that provides consulting services to clients primarily in the NY area and infrequent overnight travel is required. As a member of the firmwide Inspection & Rehabilitation (I&R) Practice, occasional travel to waterfront destinations (both domestically and internationally) is available for those that would like to participate.

The principal function of this position is to lead a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will also perform high-level analysis and design. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools.
We perform these inspections for marine terminal operators, private clients, states, municipalities, the US Navy and many more!

Duties and responsibilities:

- Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets
- Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted out on schedule and as budgeted
- Data entry/manipulation and technical writing skills for the preparation and review of inspection reports, proposals, etc.
- Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity
- Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
- Provides quality assurance reviews of inspection reports
- Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplines
- Assists with civil and structural design
- Performs other duties as required

Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. Structural coursework or focus is preferred
- Engineer in Training (EIT) required
