Compensation

Salary: $62,000 - $83,200 annually

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday (weekends if available)

Position Summary

The CAD & Field Engineer produces and modifies detailed technical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Micro Station. This role supports rail‑transit design and construction projects by working closely with engineers and project managers to translate technical specifications into accurate, industry‑compliant documentation. The position also includes fieldwork and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure design integrity and implementation accuracy.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Create and revise design drawings and 3D models for rail‑transit infrastructure projects.
• Translate engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations into detailed technical documents.
• Ensure all drawings and models meet applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to support design development and problem‑solving.
• Maintain organized digital drawing files, records, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in developing bills of materials and parts lists based on design documents.
• Participate in design and constructability reviews; provide technical input and clarification as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve CAD‑related issues efficiently.
• Stay informed on emerging CAD technologies and industry best practices.
• Support field surveys and installations as required by project phases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Certification in CAD/Drafting (or equivalent experience/education)
• 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD design software
• Familiar with CAD software such as Bentley/Micro Station, REVIT, Solid Works, or similar platforms
• Understanding of technical drawings and blueprint interpretation
• Knowledgeable in engineering and construction industry standards, materials, and regulations
• Familiar with project management and design workflow tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and Procore
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Highly organized with strong time management capabilities
• Physically able to navigate construction sites (standing, climbing, stooping, crouching)
• Willingness to work outdoors and conduct field surveys
• Comfortable in all weather conditions and high‑noise environments
• Recommended certifications:
  Amtrak Track Training, CSX Track Training, MTA Track Training, OSHA 30

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Primarily office‑based with computer work at a desk.
• May require occasional visits to project sites for measurements, coordination, or inspections.
• Frequent sitting, reading, and use of computer keyboards and monitors.
• Occasional standing, walking, or climbing during field visits.
