The Safety Specialist Level 2, under the direction of the Safety Manager, will oversee safety operations of construction activities in accordance with contract requirements and best management safety practices.

• Conduct routine site assessments to identify hazardous work practices and conditions.
• Liaise with construction compliance managers and contractors to develop corrective action strategies to eliminate hazardous conditions and prevent workplace incidents.
• Participate in safety meetings, job briefings, design reviews, and progress meetings, as well as review contractor-submitted health and safety plans and job hazard analysis means and methods.
• Pre-task intends to ensure compliance with MTA C&D's Safety Program and regulatory conformity.
• Participate in and document accident and incident investigations.
• Prepare weekly performance reports.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, or Construction Safety.

Must have a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

• Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
• Experience with construction safety contractor management program(s) or providing oversight for 3rd party services/contractors.
• Possess a valid OSHA 30-hour card in the Construction Industry under five years old.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, People Soft, Oracle, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).
• Driver's License (required for some Business Units).
