About the role

Techno is hiring an Office Engineer to join a high-visibility urban infrastructure program focused on enhancing pedestrian accessibility throughout New York City. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful improvements within dense, active streetscapes while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across construction, engineering, and inspection.

You will be a central part of project execution—supporting field operations, managing technical documentation, and helping ensure work is delivered safely, accurately, and in alignment with regulatory requirements. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys balancing technical detail with coordination, thrives in fast-moving environments, and takes pride in supporting projects that directly benefit the public.

What you’ll do
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency across records
  • Review and process contractor submittals, RFIs, field sketches, and revised design documents
  • Track construction progress, quantities, and schedule updates to support reporting and forecasting
  • Assist with cost tracking, change documentation, and basic project controls
  • Support accessibility compliance efforts throughout construction activities
  • Document site conditions, field observations, and coordination items in support of the field team
  • Prepare meeting notes, action items, and follow-ups from project coordination meetings
  • Serve as a liaison between construction crews, inspectors, engineers, and project leadership
  • Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Resident Engineer and project management team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting transportation, civil, or infrastructure construction projects
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards and compliance requirements for pedestrian facilities
  • Experience interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Familiarity with project management, reporting, and document control platforms
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Prior experience on New York City public infrastructure projects is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with or supporting projects for NYC agencies such as NYCDDC is a plus
