As a Principal Environmental Engineer, you'll use your expertise to restore, protect, and improve the environment. In New York City’s complex landscape, your leadership transforms regulations into solutions that sustain communities and protect what matters most. Inthis capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Perform a wide range of environmental engineering analysis and design tasks related to planning, environmental site investigation (subsurface and hazardous materials), remediation design, and remedial operations.
- Supervise the development of project plans, design calculations, plans and specifications, engineering cost estimates, and coordinate with other disciplines to deliver quality engineering services.
- Work with a team of professionals to provide environmental remedial engineering expertise on projects including evaluation of remedial options, development and implementation of remedial designs, and cost estimates.
- Lead and manage the success of environmental revenue growth in New York through business development efforts and executing a growth plan.
- Manage, plan, develop, organize, and implement environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Coordinate and present design submissions with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Determine client requirements and develop plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, bid packages, and related documents.
- Explore subject areas, define scope, select areas for investigation, and develop novel concepts.
- Ensure projects and deliverables comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Act as a technical liaison within and outside GFT, responsible for independent technical decisions on environmental projects.
- Represent GFT at meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to discuss design/permitting issues.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including planning, assigning, directing work; evaluating and coaching team performance; promoting and monitoring quality assurance; and coaching and mentoring.
- Oversee staff utilization and project profitability and collections.
- Engage and lead technical proposal teams or major components of a proposal team.
- Participate in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
- B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
- New York Professional Engineer License.
- 15+ years of environmental remediation experience in a consulting environment.
- Technical expertise in design of a wide variety of soil and groundwater remedial systems.
- Knowledge of applicable New Jersey and New York laws and regulations.
- Ability to maintain strong and consistent outreach to clients.
- Demonstrated business development experience and ability to execute growth plans.
- Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high‑quality work products.
