Civil Design Engineer - Transportation

Job Description

We are seeking a Transportation Design Civil Engineer to support major roadway, highway, and city infrastructure projects throughout New York City. This role is centered on transportation engineering—including roadway geometry, highway design, grading and drainage, utility coordination, work‑zone traffic control, and green infrastructure. You will prepare design plans, profiles, cross‑sections, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station, InRoads, and Open Roads.

You will collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, contribute to contract document development, and support project execution from concept through final design. The ideal candidate brings strong NYC transportation project experience and can operate confidently in a fast‑paced design environment.

• Perform transportation design tasks, including roadway and highway geometry, grading and drainage, utility design, and green infrastructure.

• Develop detailed roadway/highway design plans, profiles, sections, and details using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Micro Station.

• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents.

• Support multi‑disciplinary transportation design teams throughout project delivery.

• Provide engineering assistance on additional civil/transportation tasks as needed.

• Ensure all design work complies with NYCDOT, NYCDDC, and applicable transportation standards.

• Strong background in transportation engineering, including highway and roadway design.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Micro Station.

• In‑depth knowledge of InRoads and Open Roads.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

• 5+ years of experience on NYCDOT and NYCDDC transportation projects.

• EIT certification and strong skills in roadway design, grading, and drainage.

• Demonstrated experience preparing plans for civil and highway projects.

• Understanding of NYCDOT, NYCDDC, and local transportation standards.

This is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
