Location: New York
The Utility Engineering Specialist 1 works in the Electric Safety and Reliability Section of the New York Department of Public Service's Office of Energy System Planning and Performance. The role involves inspecting and auditing electric utility facilities for compliance with safety standards, investigating system incidents, reviewing capital investments, providing engineering analysis for rate proceedings, and supporting the Department's efforts to ensure safe, affordable, and reliable electric service while advancing clean energy goals.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an accredited engineering curriculum
- Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering preferred
- Engineering experience in electrical systems preferred
- Valid driver's license (at least 5% travel required)
- Current NY HELPS eligibility, 55-b/c status, Engineering Examination List status, or one year+ permanent NYS service as Utility Engineering Specialist 1, Grade 18
