Black River Systems Company, a small,established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY is looking for a Signal Processing Engineer. Wearelookingforsomeonewhocandevelopsignal processing algorithms to detect, decode, and process digital communication signals.

You willparticipatein field tests, signal modeling for operational planning, building, and testing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems,suchassoftware – defined radios (SDRs), foruseinprototypesignalcollectionandprocessingsystems.

Position Responsibilities

Performing research,design,developmentandproductionofcommunicationsequipmentandsystems.
Abletomaintain,troubleshootandinstallthecommunicationsequipmentusingdigitalsignal processing algorithms
Knowledgeofsatelliteorotherwirelesscommunicationssystems
Incorporating traditional Signal Processingaswellas Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial

Intelligence (AI) techniques
Implementingalgorithmsinhardwaresystemsasresearchprogressestowardoperationalimplementation.
Asrequireddevelopcustomerrelationshipsandotherbusinessdevelopmentresponsibilities

Position Requirements

Bachelor’sdegreeinmath,electricalengineeringorrelatedfieldandindustryexperience is desired.
Abilitytoperformin-depthtechnicalevaluationsofemergingcommunicationstechnologies through analysis and identification of advancement capabilities
Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) designormodelingandanalysisof

Software

Defined Radios (SDRs)
Familiaritywithsoftwaredefinedradiohardwareandsoftwareinterfaces
Developsignalprocessingalgorithmstocollect,detect,andprocessdigitalcommunicationsignals
Experienceinreceiverdesignincludingdigitalfiltering,channel estimation,equalization, demodulation, and decoding.
Proficiencyinsomeorallofthefollowingprogramminglanguages:

MATLAB,Python. Familiarity in C/C++ is a plus.
Excellentcommunicationskillsneededtoexplaincomplexsignalingsystemswiththe ability to provide technical support for hardware design.
US citizenship–musthaveorbeeligiblefora Department of Defensesecurityclearance.
