Job Description Summary

Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Design or modification of protection and control drawing packages, including physical layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, wiring/interconnection, grounding, cable schedules and other required custom control hardware for custom FACTS solutions for orders and proposals. Develop or update Bills of Material for all designs, ensure consistency and quality throughout all design documentation. Contribute to continuous improvement of standard control documentation for FACTS equipment including protection and control systems.

Coordinate with offshore design resources and the project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives. Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations. Facilitate the development and execute cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low-cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction.

Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, AutoCAD Electrical, and Micro Station. Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO
9001.

Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future for this open position.

Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and with 3 years of experience in the specific field of electrical design.

Electrical schematic drawing experience. Proficient in Standard Drafting practices. Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, AUS, CSA, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to design packages when no clear customer specification is provided. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated creativity and ability to be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget.
