Water​/Wastewater Design Engineer

MJ is a multi-disciplined engineering firm located in Clifton Park, New York with a staff of more than 175 professional architects, engineers, and surveyors. We have been in business for more than 47 years with a focus on municipal, state, federal, and private development projects. MJ has an immediate opening for a water/wastewater design engineer in our Saranac Lake, NY office and is currently accepting applications to join our great employees.

• Work within a project team to support water/ wastewater projects from initial project programming up to and through construction.
• Assist in the preparation of design calculations and technical specifications for a variety of water and wastewater projects, including utility pipelines, storage facilities, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
• Prepare project plans including site plans, utility plans and profiles, process water and wastewater plans to support project approvals and construction.
• Support in the preparation of technical reports including engineering reports, utility master plans, capital improvement plans, condition assessments, and feasibility studies for water and sanitary systems.
• Conduct field investigations to assess site conditions, inspect facilities and provide engineering support during design and construction.
• Communicate effectively and coordinate with project team members.

• Possess a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental engineering from an ABET- accredited college.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in civil or environmental engineering, including water and wastewater.
• Registration as an Intern Engineer in NY is preferred.
• Understanding of State, Federal, and local regulations specific to water supply systems, sanitary sewers, and water and wastewater treatment.
• Ability to work within multiple design teams and execute to meet demanding schedules.
• Have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or be eligible to work without an employer sponsorship.
• Must be a US citizen or eligible to work without an employer sponsorship. Pay is based on applicant’s ability/experience and will be rated accordingly. We offer a very competitive benefit package.
