M&A Tax Associate

Location: New York, NY

A growing full‑service tax practice is seeking a mid‑level associate to join its New York office. The team advises on a wide range of sophisticated matters, including domestic and cross‑border M&A, private equity transactions, joint ventures, capital markets, restructurings, and state and local tax controversy work. This opportunity offers exposure to high‑profile deals and the ability to work closely with senior tax practitioners across diverse transactional matters.

• Advise on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private equity investments, and joint ventures.
• Support structuring and planning for corporate and partnership transactions.
• Assist with tax analysis related to capital markets work and restructuring mandates.
• Contribute to state and local tax controversy matters as required.
• Draft memoranda, client advisories, and transaction documentation.
• Work collaboratively with deal teams across practice areas.

• 2–6 years of big‑law experience in M&A tax, transactional tax, or corporate tax planning.
• Strong technical grounding in federal tax law; partnership tax and cross‑border experience advantageous.
• Excellent writing, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple active matters.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Member of the New York Bar (or eligible for admission).

Salary Range: $235,000 – $390,000 DOE
