AboutThe Role
We’re seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated accountant to join our NYC office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply strong technical accounting skills in the mortgage industry—no prior mortgage or loan‑level experience required. We’re looking for someone with a passion for learning, exceptional organization, and a commitment to accuracy and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead loan‑level accounting activities for the mortgage business, including:
- Month‑end close tasks
- Bank reconciliations
- Accrued liabilities
- Balance‑sheet reconciliations
- Revenue recognition
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements
- Support the year‑end audit process by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation as needed
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Manage all servicing requests and respond promptly to borrower inquiries, delivering a top‑tier customer experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus)
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong technical accounting background and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational abilities and high attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to respond to inquiries with speed, accuracy, and care
- Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
- Financial curiosity & industry eagerness—strong drive to learn the mortgage industry and navigate complex accounting structures and regulatory environments
- Exceptional communication & clarity—articulate complex financial data clearly and build rapport with stakeholders
