Overview
Cost Accountant (Long-term job in CT w/ initial 6-12 month project in PA) – Stamford, CT with a 6–12 month project in Pittsburgh, PA. Salary range: $90,000.00–$ per year plus housing, per diem for meals, project bonus, and other incentives. This is a long-term opportunity with a potential transition to strategic financial planning and analysis after the project completion.
Responsibilities- Analyze part-level costing and set standards in a manufacturing setting
- Assess and improve the current costing structure and processes
- Perform time and process analysis to ensure accurate cost standards
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead rates; update as needed
- Partner with engineering and operations to maintain accurate BOMs and routings
- Monitor and report on manufacturing variances and provide recommendations
- Prepare cost analysis reports for management and strategic planning
- Identify and recommend cost-saving initiatives to improve margins and efficiency
- Collaborate with finance leadership on budgeting and margin analysis
- 2+ years of cost accounting experience
- Knowledge of inventory or costing systems
- Advanced Excel skills, including formatting, formulas (e.g., VLOOKUP) & pivot tables
- Ability to spend 6–12 months in Pittsburgh, PA, for a costing project
- Location: Stamford, CT (with a 6–12 month project in Pittsburgh, PA)
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

- Incentives: Project incentives negotiable; paid housing, transportation, per diem for meals, and flights back to CT every other weekend; ~10% bonus upon project completion
Our client, a global industrial manufacturer, seeks a cost accounting professional to join their finance team. The initial phase is a high-impact costing project just north of Pittsburgh, PA, focusing on evaluating costing processes, improving data accuracy, and providing actionable insights to strengthen decision-making. After the project, there is potential to transition into broader FP&A support from Stamford, CT.
