The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country, with a mission to combat municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for the City government, agencies, employees, vendors with City contracts, and recipients of City funds.
Position OverviewDOI is seeking a College Aide to work in the Finance Unit. The selected candidate will collaborate with the Internal Auditor to assess internal controls, policies, and operational efficiency. This role offers valuable insights into the public-sector audit process and contributes to ensuring effective, efficient, and compliant operations. This position is focused solely on internal auditing and is not related to investigative functions.
Key Responsibilities- Exposure to internal auditing within a government agency.

- Practical knowledge in audit processes, financial systems, and risk management.

Minimum QualificationsApplicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school and maintain student status. Specific course requirements apply for IT-focused levels, including coursework in information technology, computer science, or related fields.
Special NotesMaximum tenure is 6 years. Students cannot work more than half-time during school sessions but may work full-time during vacations.
Preferred Skills- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to learn; prior coursework or experience in auditing is a plus.
