Jefferson Wells has upcoming project opportunities for an experienced Tax Manager
, with a strong focus on tax provision, compliance, and nonprofit tax filings (Form 990). If you're well-versed in corporate tax compliance and tax provision and have experience preparing or reviewing IRS Form 990
, we want to hear from you.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer U.S. GAAP tax provisions.
- Liaise with Corporate Financial Reporting and Tax personnel to ensure proper completion and consistency of the U.S. GAAP tax provision.
- Review supporting schedules for tax contingencies and return-to-provision adjustments.
- Prepare or review Form 990 and related schedules for nonprofit entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS requirements.
- Review schedules prepared by team members and consolidate analysis of key accounts.
- Identify and analyze complex transactions for proper tax accounting treatment.
- Assist with preparation of tax disclosures in financial statements.
- Assess impact of tax law changes on the U.S. GAAP tax provision.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of tax accounting and compliance impacts across business segments.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Identify and implement process improvements in tax procedures.
- Develop and execute strategic tax planning initiatives.
- Lead and manage tax team members, ensuring quality and timeliness in all deliverables.
- Coordinate tax return calendars and collaborate with internal teams.
- Manage IRS audits and correspondence, including response preparation and documentation.
- Monitor and analyze legislative changes, communicate implications, and advise on strategy.
- Provide support for internal audits and special tax-related projects.
- Review tax returns and provide quarterly/yearly projections and analysis.
- Minimum five years of corporate tax experience
, including experience with Form 990 for nonprofit organizations. - Extensive knowledge of individual, corporate, and partnership taxation.
- Strong understanding of tax codes, compliance procedures, and tax accounting standards.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Solid analytical, accounting, and tax research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with One Source
, Avalara
, or similar tax software preferred. - Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with year-end close and financial reporting processes.
