AVP, Broker-Dealer Accountant

Our client is a broker-dealer. They seek an AVP, Broker-Dealer Accountant to join their Manhattan, NY office.

• Support the CFO and Controller with the day-to-day accounting operations of the self-clearing and proprietary firm, including but not limited to the following functions
• Manage the monthly close process, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of accurate financial reports
• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all accounting reports and financial statements, including FOCUS filings
• Perform monthly reconciliations and bookkeeping; prepare and submit wire requests; and oversee travel and entertainment expense accounting
• Maintain regulatory compliance with net capital and customer reserve requirements through active monitoring and reporting
• Develop and implement robust accounting policies, procedures, and systems to strengthen internal controls
• Collaborate with senior management to identify and resolve broker-dealer financial issues and recommend process improvements as needed
• Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, including expense allocation and reconciliation

• 5+ years of broker-dealer accounting experience
• Broker/securities industry experience required
• Detail-oriented and analytical
• Excellent communication skills
• Series 27 is a plus
