Accounting: Controller

Our client, a fast-growing software development startup, is seeking a Controller to lead and scale its accounting function. This is a pivotal finance leadership role responsible for financial reporting, process optimization, and building systems that support growth. You'll work cross-functionally with leadership across Finance, Legal, HR, and Operations to establish scalable, tech-forward accounting infrastructure.

• Oversee all accounting operations, including GL, revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, and compliance.
• Lead and manage annual audits, acting as primary liaison with external auditors.
• Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure GAAP compliance.
• Implement and enhance accounting systems, internal controls, and automation tools to improve efficiency.
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline financial workflows and reporting processes.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, currently at Controller or Assistant Controller level.
• Background in B2B SaaS and experience scaling a high-growth startup.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and deep GAAP knowledge.
• Experience leading end-to-end audits (Big 4 or Mid-Tier firm experience preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• Hands-on mindset, excited to build systems and processes from the ground up.
• Proficiency with automation and AI-driven financial tools.
