Location: New York

The Director of Finance is a strategic partner and a hands‑on leader responsible for the financial reporting (both internal and external), treasury, budgeting, and Risk management functions of the organization. The position ensures that there are effective financial controls and standards in place.

The Director of Finance is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and plays a critical role in strategic decision making and operations. This position works closely with the CEO, Presidents & CFO to support organization’s fiduciary compliance.

Financial Strategy/Reporting/Treasury/Risk/Team Leadership/

Collaboration:

  • The director of finance is responsible for shaping the organization’s financial strategy to ensure long‑term stability and growth. This includes overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and investment planning processes.
  • The director ensures that all financial statements are accurate and comply with regulatory and Banking standards. This involves preparing and analyzing financial reports and ensuring adherence to tax regulations and requires management of all internal and external reporting including but not limited to banking, audits and tax authorities.
  • The director is responsible for managing company’s financial assets, performing cash flow and liquidity reporting and analysis. She/He will ensure that organization has the right amount of cash at the right time while managing existing and future cash needs. She/He will not only establish and maintain relationships with all company current and potential landers but also design and implement strategies to safeguard the financial stability of the business.
  • The director leads and mentors the finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
  • Director assesses financial markets and individual customer financial performance to identify potential risks. Works with CFO and Financial controller to determine operational exposures and optimal insurance coverage necessary to protect operations. Develops scenarios and provides suggestions that minimize customer, operational and market risk exposure and safeguards company assets and optimizes financial performance.
  • The Director of Finance works closely with senior management to align financial goals with the organization’s overall objectives, providing strategic insights to support decision‑making.
QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERENCES:

Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. A minimum of 7-10 years in financial management with progressive growth in responsibilities. Apparel industry experience is strongly preferred. Prior responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data. Prior experience supervising, coaching and mentoring a team in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to translate financial concepts to and effectively collaborate with colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.

Technology savvy with successful track record in setting priorities and a multi‑tasker with the ability to wear many hats. Keen analytic, organization and problem‑solving skills which support and enable sound decision making. Able to work extended hours with occasional travel as needed. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a multicultural environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Full‑time employment. Compensation is competitive and based upon experience. Fifteen Paid Time Off (PTO) days and Five personal days with 10 holidays provided annually. 401(K), Health, dental, vision and life insurance. Position located in New York, NY and reports to CFO.
