Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Investment Analyst supports every stage of our investment process across the OCIO platform and the Sustainable Investors Fund (SIF), from portfolio analysis to sourcing, underwriting, and committing capital to external fund managers.

This is a structured 2-year program, designed to provide exposure to investment funds and the underwriting process across all asset classes (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Assets, Public Equities, Hedge Funds, Credit Funds, etc.). The program is intentionally structured to provide intensive professional development and broad investment exposure. High-performing analysts may be considered for longer-term opportunities within Capricorn as business needs and individual career objectives align.

The role focuses on our OCIO and SIF mandates and does not cover our venture fund, the Technology Impact Fund.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing, due diligence, and investment structuring for LP commitments into funds and GP stakes investments.
  • Map and monitor the landscape of funds in various asset classes/impact verticals.
  • Regularly update the investment pipeline database and prepare materials for internal pipeline meetings.
Investment Committee Process
  • Prepare and present comprehensive investment recommendation documents for the investment committee detailing the investment thesis and due diligence on an investment opportunity with supporting quantitative models and analysis.
  • Actively participate and engage in collaborative discussions on all investments recommended for inclusion into the portfolio.
  • Schedule quarterly calls with external fund managers in our portfolio and draft quarterly reports.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, exposures, risk characteristics, and asset allocation positioning.
  • Conduct market research and provide investment insights that support portfolio management decisions.
  • Build quantitative tools and financial models to evaluate portfolio risks and opportunities.
  • Support portfolio construction and manager allocation decisions across asset classes.
Sustainability & Impact Integration
  • Integrate sustainability and diversity considerations into the investment process, as well as underwriting and engagement with fund managers.
Culture
  • Engage with colleagues across the firm on special projects as needed.
  • Be a positive contributor to our high-performing, impact driven culture.
Qualifications Required
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in investment banking, asset management, financial data analytics, or a top tier consulting firm.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, capital markets, portfolio theory, and investment concepts.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate and defend well-reasoned opinions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, identify central issues, and develop thoughtful recommendations with limited oversight.
  • Interest in sustainable investing and applying rigorous investment analysis to sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
Preferred
  • Experience using investment research or market intelligence platforms such as Preqin, Pitch Book, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Burgiss, or similar systems.
  • Experience maintaining CRM or investment research databases.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, data visualization, AI-assisted research tools, or other investment analytics platforms.
  • Experience working with institutional investors, investment managers, or private market investments.
